Feedback was received from Mr R Thomas via email communication on 12 June 2023 indicating that the department has received feedback from the various line departments on 28 May 2023 and further clarity still needs to be provided on some items. He further indicated that meetings have been arranged with the various line departments and further updates within the next two weeks will be provided to Subcouncil.
Councillor M Temlett requested that a breakdown be provided on the allocated funding for financial year 22/23 of the amount of R 3.2 million for the project thus far.
Meeting date: 19/10/2023
The Subcouncil Manager reported to the meeting that no new information has been provided and the department requested that the item be removed due to various processes that are currently in place and no new feedback will be provided for some time, going forward. As per email communication received from Mr Ryan Thomas he indicated that the application is currently in the planning phase, and several key steps must be completed before the project can be implemented. These steps include:
Land Use Approval: We are in the process of securing the necessary land use approvals, which are integral to our project's viability.
Environmental Approval: Environmental assessments and approvals are essential for the project's sustainability and compliance with regulations.
Appeal Processes: potential appeal processes that might impact the project's time lines or approval.
Further Subdivision for Approved Phases: Depending on the outcomes of items 1, 2, and 3, there may be a need for further subdivision.
Funding Approvals: Once approved we will seek funding approval for the implementation.
Procurement for Implementation: Procurement for the project's implementation will only be possible once the aforementioned milestones are achieved.
Subcouncil manager further conveyed that the departments values the input and support of local community and council members and provided assurance to keep the Subcouncil updated with new developments, addressing any questions and issues that may arise and to continue to work together collaboratively to ensure the success of the project.
Upon the above response from the Department, Subcouncil agreed to
REMOVE the item from the MRA.
It was further agreed that Human Settlement Implementation Department provides a report to Subcouncil 3 on a quarterly basis.
NOTED.
