Apply for copies of building plans

You can request to view previously approved building plans, either online or by applying at any local district office.

Submit a building plan

To conduct work on buildings or make alterations or extensions, you will need to submit building plans to the City.

Apply for a certificate of occupancy

Apply for a certificate of occupancy, confirming all work complies with the building plans, from the City of Cape Town.

Appeal a building decision

If you are not satisfied with outcome of a building decision, you have the right to appeal.

Apply for a demolition permit

You must apply to the City for a permit to carry out demolition on a building(s).

Apply for a temporary structure

You will need to request permission to erect temporary structures such as tents, stalls and stages and often linked to an events permit.
