This is usually required in the case of extensions, additions or alterations. </p></div> | <span>
<h2 class="sectHeading">How to apply for copies of plans</h2>
<p>Only the registered property owner, or a duly authorised architect / draughts person will be provided with any copies of previously approved building plans.</p>

Third party requests for copies of plans must be requested through the District Information Hubs, by completing the
<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Forms%2c%20notices%2c%20tariffs%20and%20lists/BDM_14-Application_for_permission_to_obtain_copies.pdf" target="_blank">BDM 14 form</a> – this is a temporary measure.<br></p></div></div></span>
<p>You must be <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures%2c%20guidelines%20and%20regulations/e-Services_DAMS_%20Registration_Guide.pdf" target="_blank">registered for Development Management Service (DAMS) on the e-Services portal</a> to submit a building plan application.</p>

<p>Requests for copies of plans can also be done online, and normally precedes any building plan application. </p>

<strong>Step 1: </strong>
<a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/City-Connect/Register/eservices-and-municipal-accounts/Register-for-a-municipal-account">Register for e-Services</a>, if you are not already registered. </p>
<p>
<strong>Step 2: </strong>Once registered, login to e-Services and activate the DAMS option. Select the Building Development Management Service option and the 'Request Copies of Plans' tile under 'Paid services', then follow the prompts to complete the necessary information. </p>
<p> This step replaces the need to complete the Request for Copies of Plans (BDM14) form. This form is no longer available for download. </p>
<p>The City charges a search fee per request for copies of plans, which will be determined as per the <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Financial%20documents/Building%20Development%20Management%20Tariffs.pdf" target="_blank">Building Development Management tariffs</a>. </p>

<h2 class="sectHeading">Payment</h2></span>
<p>We accept the following methods of payment:</p>
<ul><li>
<strong>Cash, debit and credit card: </strong>We will cover the bank cost on a cash, debit and/or credit card payment on an amount above R7000 per transaction. We absorb such costs in respect of single payments of R7000 and below.</li><li>
<strong>Direct deposit at the bank:</strong><strong> </strong>Insert your payment reference number on your deposit slip.</li><li>
<strong>Electronic payments (EFT):</strong> Select the City of Cape Town as a bank listed beneficiary on your bank's website. Use your 9 - digit reference number in the beneficiary account number/ payment reference field.</li></ul>

<b></b><strong></strong>The City may in certain instances not have a copy of a previously approved building plan on record, if for any reason plans or a particular property are not available it is the responsibility of the registered owner to have the as-built structures measured and drawn up.</p></div></div></span><span>
