One plan has been compiled for each of the planning districts of the City of Cape Town.</p></div> | <h2 class="sectHeading">About our District Plans</h2><p>The District Plans are medium term (10 year) plans that aim to guide spatial development processes and land use management within the district and are approved by the Council of City of Cape Town as policy.</p><h4> The plans are informed by the city-wide
<a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/work%20and%20business/planning-portal/Plans-policies-frameworks-and-guidelines/cape-town-spatial-development-framework">Cape Town Spatial Development Framework</a> and aim to:</h4><ul><li>Provide direction to the desired nature and form of development in the district.</li><li>Assist in providing a guide to land use and environmental decision-making processes.</li><li>Provide a spatial informant to strategic public and private investment initiatives.</li><li>Inform the development of priorities for more detailed local area planning.</li></ul><p>They include an Integrated Environmental Management Framework (EMF) developed in terms of the

<strong>Volume I: Baseline and Analysis Report (BaAR)</strong><br>Includes the latest available information about the state of the population, environment, development, economy and property market, including the challenges, needs and opportunities on a local planning level. </p><p>
<strong>Volume II: District Plan Main Technical Report</strong><br> “The Plan” which set the planning and spatial vision, and policy guidelines and proposals to facilitate residential, industrial, commercial, facility and recreational development. </p><p>
<strong>Volume III: Implementation Plan</strong><br>The proposals for infrastructure projects and targeting interventions; mechanisms and incentives to facilitate development; the lists of policies to be withdrawn; and the basis for the monitoring and evaluation frameworks. </p><p>

<h2 class="sectHeading">Cape Flats District plan </h2></span>
<p>The Cape Flats Spatial Plan identifies the spatial planning and infrastructural support needed to sustain economic growth and realise a more inclusive city:</p><ul><li>Improve public transport by supporting the development of an efficient, integrated and complementary non-motorised and public transport network. </li><li>Improve the east-west accessibility with the implementation of the MyCiti Phase 2A and R300 (Cape Flats Freeway) extension to link the important economic nodes outside of the Cape Flats district; the Philippi East (Metro South-east) Metropolitan Node in the east and the Wynberg and Claremont Metropolitan Node in the west. </li><li>Ensure sufficient infrastructure capacity in development focus areas – especially Klipfontein Road, Govan Mbeki Road and Strandfontein Road. <br></li><li>Reinforce established concentrations of district economic activity that hold competitive advantages, particularly along Klipfontein Road, Jan Smuts Drive and Strandfontein Road. </li><li>Support greater social inclusion with the development of a wider range of living opportunities along Strandfontein Road, Govan Mbeki Road, Klipfontein Road, Spine Road, Turfhall/Race course Road and Terminus Road. </li><li>Preserve and protect the PHA aquifer and the Zeekoevlei water system. </li><li>Rehabilitation of Sand Industria as a good long-term opportunity to serve surrounding areas of high social vulnerability and need.
