Trading plan formulation
The objective of the informal trading plan business process is to facilitate access to job and entrepreneurial opportunities within the informal trading sector. It also helps to nurture a positive relationship with the formal business sector by providing a stable regulatory and flexible management environment that is predictable, empowering and sustainable. This is done by developing new trading areas and upgrading existing informal trading areas in terms of the City’s
Informal Trading By-law and the
Businesses Act 71 of 1991 where applicable.
Informal Trading Implementation Plan
The plan forms the second part of our Informal Trading Policy, and provides a detailed outline for its implementation. Some of the issues that need to be detailed in the implementation plan include an Informal Trading Infrastructure Investment Plan as well as the norms and standards that will be applied in implementing the trading infrastructure.
Investment Incentives Policy
The
Investment Incentives Policy provides financial and non-financial incentives that help foster increased opportunities for economic participation through sustainable employment creation. This document outlines and guides incentives to attract investment in Cape Town.
Business Support Facilities Management Guidelines Framework
One of the City’s responsibilities is to manage the more than
60 “business hives” (small trading, artisan or business facilities), kiosks and stalls across the city, and ensure that they function correctly (for the purposes for which they were built) and that agreements are in place with tenants or managers. These
management guidelines aim to ensure that these facilities operate efficiently, in line with the City’s business support and job creation objectives.
Business Support Policy
The
Business Support Policy focuses on creating an enabling and supportive environment for businesses to grow and develop. It is under review at present.
Urban Agriculture Policy
This policy strives to create a common vision for urban agriculture in the City of Cape Town and aims to identify key enabling imperatives and strategic objectives to guide urban agricultural development.
Informal Trading Policy
Our
Informal Trading Policy aims to drive informal trading as a positive development in the micro business sector and to support the sector's capacity to contribute to job creation and the expansion of the city's economic base. Also see the
Informal Trading By-law and the
Informal Trading Amendment By-law.
City Improvement Districts Policy
This policy for the establishment of
City Improvement Districts (CIDs) must be read together with the
City Improvement District By-law.
