Be taught by a firefighter

Would you like a life-safety educator to visit your school or organisation? Our professional firefighters are also teachers and will gladly give free basic fire safety advice to all members of a community on preventing fires and injuries from fire.

What we do

Our life-safety educators visit a number of schools and organisations, including:

  • crèche environments;
  • early learning institutions;
  • all schools;
  • older people and people with disabilities; and
  • other institutional facilities.

We focus on interactive demonstrations with students so that communities can physically learn how to respond properly to dangerous fire situations. For example, we bring equipment and help students perform tasks like ‘crawling beneath smoke’. We also have a budget that allows them to buy and distribute publications on fire safety.

We also teach staff to work closely with our operational staff in the Fire and Rescue Service Department, especially if demonstrations are to take place at one of our City fire stations.

Download and print our fire education pamphlets and make them available in your home, place of work, and your community:
