Cape Town is in a water-scarce region and at all times, but especially during this drought crisis, we need to use water sparingly.

Regular enforcement operations remain in place. The City will only publish the identities of residents or commercial properties once they have paid a fine or once they have appeared in court in connection with their transgression of Level 3B restrictions.

The City continues to monitor the water usage of the top 20 000 high water consumers in formal residences as well as commercial, industrial, and government properties in all suburbs.

The average household uses about 20 000 litres per month. This would be less than 1 000 litres per day. High users are using much more, with some over 50 000 litres per month.

The top 100 users with the highest water usage per month are located in:

1.
