Ms Nomfundo Mdingi said the purpose of the report was to inform the Subcouncil of the programmes implemented by Social Development and Early Childhood Development department in Subcouncil 11 for quarter 1. To implement transversal holiday programmes in identified areas. The Women for Change programme is an amazing project and adds value to community and advocated that more resources and funding for Central area be allocated to the programme. • Cllr Antonio van der Rheede also requested that an evaluation and survey be done in consultation with the relevant Subcouncil, instead the programme should be implemented on incremental basis. • He informed the members that Woman for Change are performing multi-tasks in ward 47 and a resource to City and have undertaken missing bins survey in the rental stock units. Report maintenance issues in rental units that is in line with transversal Policy, assist the sick people and conduct NHW patrol. Cllr Nqavashe • support the Woman for Change programme especial in densely populated areas where there is rental stock and requested that all other wards be considered and that the programme be broadened to the relevant areas e.g. Lingelihle and Epic Oil Hostels in Gugulethu. • Budgets for services be increased and not cut the service that is making a difference in poor areas and as politicians will fight for budget resources for the department to implement the programme at a higher scale and City wide. RESOLVED • The members NOTED the report and recommended that the Women for Changed programme be increased and additional funding be allocated. • An annual Women for Change Programme be implemented in all wards within the Subcouncil • An impact assessment workshop be conducted and reported upon by Subcouncil and SDECD. .
