21/04/18: Cllrs Chapple advised that an on-site inspection took place and that this matter can be removed from the list.
19/03/18: Mr Moegamat Adams represented the Transport Department.
It was noted that clarity be given as to which line department is responsible for what functions pertaining to subways.
UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED that:
a) the report be NOTED.
b) an on-site inspection be arranged and all stakeholders be invited.
19/02/18: Email from Moegamat Adams d/d 7/02/18: I am awaiting feedback on the additional info that my director asked for, and should have answer by Friday. Then the director and commish still needs to sign it off, so end next week is the earliest it could be ready.
22/01/18: It was requested that a meeting be scheduled with all stakeholders to discuss the way forward. Remains outstanding
20/11/17: Email from Mogamad Adams d/d 15/11/17: We are currently investigating the matter and the report could be ready by mid-December.
16/10/17: The motion was submitted by Cllr Patrick Chapple and seconded by Cllr Dave Bryant. See Addendum D.
Cllr Chapple read the motion:
“The state of subways in Ward 57 and Ward 115 shows a huge variance in cleanliness, maintenance and safety for users.
Could a report be given to this Subcouncil detailing:
a)The differences between PRASA responsibility subways and Council responsibility?
b)The responsible department for (a) cleaning subways (b) lighting of subways (c) painting and maintenance of subways (d) safety for users of subways
c)There are some subways that are permanently closed, others that are closed at night and finally those that are open for 24 hours. Can the process around the closure of subways either permanently or partially please be outlined.”
UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED that:
a)the motion be duly supported
b)a report be submitted to Subcouncil 16 detailing the following:
(i)The differences between PRASA responsibility subways
and Council responsibility
(ii)The responsible department for (a) cleaning subways (b)
lighting of subways (c) painting and maintenance of
subways (d) safety for users of subways
(iii)There are some subways that are permanently closed,
others that are closed at night and finally, those that are
open for 24 hours. Can the process around the closure of
subways either permanently or partially, please be
outlined.”
