Resolution detail

UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED that the following comments be noted: That an application for a liquor licence received from Curry And Craft Pty Ltd was considered in terms of sub delegated authority and that the following recommendation was forwarded to the Liquor Authority in terms of the Western Cape Liquor Act, 2008, as amended: Subcouncil 16 recommends that the application for a Consumption ON Premises Liquor Licence, reference no LLA1708042, for the business Curry and Craft Pty Ltd BE NOT SUPPORTED. Subcouncil 16 objects to the granting of a liquor licence to Curry and Craft for the following reasons: The entrance and exit to the premises is in Cranko Road, which is a residential area with homes with families and children a few metres from it. The noise from patrons, who have been drinking, entering and leaving the premises will exacerbate an already noise situation from KFC and Macdonald’s patrons. There is no parking space in Lower Main road, which will cause the restaurant patrons to park in Cranko Road, which will only worsen the current situation with residents who have to park in the street in front of their homes. There is a primary school at the end of Cranko road at the corner of Nuttall and Clifton terrace. There is an elderly care facility diagonally across Main Road from the premises. The prior liquor licence was successfully opposed by the residents and the Observatory Civic Association due to noise issues in a residential area, and the circumstances have not changed to warrant the licence being granted.
