Resolution detail
RESOLVED
That the outcome of the traffic calming assessment ito Durbanville Preparatory school BE NOTED and supported as listed below:
SUPPORTED: One-way traffic flow between Hugo & Luckhoff Streets on weekdays between 07:00 and 08:00; subject to the necessary signage being erected by the line department and further subject to the Public Participation Unit being consulted about the requirements for public consultation in this instance. (Durbanville Preparatory School).
NOT SUPPORTED:Lindenberg Avenue (between Louw and Turner
Streets) for reasons as listed below.
|
|
-
3 existing traffic calming measures (1 x Speed Hump and 2 x Raised Pedestrian Crossings) on Lindenberg, between Louw and Turner S-intersections).
-
The proposed one-way conversion will result in a redistribution of traffic to the adjacent road network as vehicles will no longer be able to travel northbound on the section of Lindenberg Avenue in the direction of Louw Street/ Durbanville CBD.
-
The future introduction of a Class 4 cycle facility on Lindenberg Ave as per the City’s 2017 NMT network plan will require cyclists and vehicles to share this roadway, which is expected to create an additional traffic calming effect on the investigated section of roadway.
