<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Unofficial_Consolidated_Water_By-law_2010_2018.pdf" target="_blank">Water By-law </a>and the
<a href="https://www.gov.za/documents/water-services-act" target="_blank">National Water Services Act<i class="icon link-external"></i></a>. </p></div></div></span>
<h4>An exemption from these requirements will only be granted if:</h4><ul><li>you are able to provide sufficient motivation for the exemption; and </li><li> your application is verified and assessed by a CCT water inspector.</li></ul><p>Individual water metering is necessary because it helps us manage our precious water resources and is also beneficial to you. </p><h4>Water metering:</h4><ul><li>encourages efficient water use, </li><li>enables the detection of water leaks, </li><li>promotes fair water use – if you use water wisely, you don’t have to pay for the habits of more wasteful water users, and</li><li> is a pre-condition for the provision of free basic water.</li></ul><h2 class="sectHeading">How to apply</h2><p>

<strong>Step 2: </strong>You will need to submit the following supporting documents with your application:</p><ul><li>A detailed technical report from a registered plumber describing the existing plumbing layout as well as work required in order to
<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Unofficial_Consolidated_Water_By-law_2010_2018.pdf" target="_blank"> comply with the By-law</a>. </li><li>Minutes of the Body Corporate/Home Owners Association meeting indicating support for this application</li></ul><p>
<strong>Step 3: </strong>Email the completed application form and all attachments to

<strong>Step 4: </strong>A City water inspector will conduct an inspection of your property. Make sure that a representative is available on the appointed date to ensure:</p><ul><li>access to service ducts, </li><li>access to hot water cylinders, and</li><li>access to a minimum of three units </li></ul><p>
