eBill deadline approaching: send your account number and contact details to the CityeBill deadline approaching: send your account number and contact details to the City
City customers are advised of the looming eBill deadline that will see all municipal accounts being sent via email and not via the postal service. Customers should please switch to emailed accounts before 31 December 2025 by sending their account number and email address to the email and SMS channels provided. Customers who have their email addresses and phone numbers on the system, but aren’t signed up for emailed accounts, may receive an SMS soon.

‘We are on a mission to reduce the number of accounts, both residential and commercial, which are printed and sent via the South African Postal Service. All residents need to do is send an email or SMS with both their account number and email address to request an emailed account before 31 December 2025. It’s quick and easy, and residents can enjoy the convenience of their account being sent directly to their inbox.

‘And if residents don’t have an email address, there’s no need to worry. The City will ensure that all account holders with no email access will still receive their account. They, or a loved one, are advised to contact the City’s Call Centre so we can assist them.

‘More than 475 000 fellow Capetonians have already made the move to eBilling. Emailed accounts make it simple for account holders to keep track of their bills and use the accounts for admin purposes while saving on printing and postage costs contributes to a more financially and environmentally sustainable organisation. Avoid the year-end rush, switch to eBilling now and help build a cleaner, greener, and more efficient metro,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.

Why the City is going digital
• Improved efficiency: customers can pay their accounts as soon as they are able
• Reduced errors: customers are able to better track their payments
• Easily accessible for proof of residence as needed
• Reduced environmental impact: reducing paper waste benefits our environment and City
• Reduced costs: eliminates the need for paper and postal delivery costs

Here's how to make the switch:
For emailed bills, simply send an email or SMS with your account number and email address
Email: Revenue.Eservices@capetown.gov.za
SMS: 31223

Customers without email accounts are requested to contact the City’s Call centre: 0860 103 089 or visit their nearest Customer Interaction Centre

For more information and to register for other online services, visit this page

For any further questions on switching to eBilling, visit our FAQs

SMS to residents who have an email address and cell phone number on the system:

Get your City of Cape Town account via email.
Register before the deadline of 31 December 2025.
After this, no more paper bills will be sent.
Send your email address and account number now via:
Email: Revenue.Eservices@capetown.gov.za
SMS: 31223

Let us know urgently if you do not have an email address.
Thank you.

2025-07-28T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#a30c1470-0530-425e-88ca-f79d631452ac;L0|#0a30c1470-0530-425e-88ca-f79d631452ac|Revenue;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GP0|#6960a0f6-8375-4087-89f6-443dc57633ce;L0|#06960a0f6-8375-4087-89f6-443dc57633ce|municipal account;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb10
