What residents need to know about recycling collection in Parklands/West CoastWhat residents need to know about recycling collection in Parklands/West Coast<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/City%20news.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><p>​<strong>The City of Cape Town would like to provide residents with clarity on the recycling collection days.</strong><br></p><p>​<br></p><div>Please note that the recycling collection service will now be rendered every two weeks. </div><div><br></div><div>Households in suburbs listed above have been divided into two groups. Recycling collection will alternate between the two groups each week going forward. Group 1 recycling collection commenced on the week of Thursday, 1 September 2022, and Group 2 commenced on the week of Monday, 5 September 2022. Where a month has 5 weeks, the collection of recyclables will repeat the cycle again and start from Group 1.</div><div><br></div><div>The contractor has been instructed to issue extra bags to residents during the initial contract period to compensate for reduced collection frequency. </div><div><br></div><div>As per the table below, collection of recycling in most areas will continue on the same day that residents are accustomed to, but on a fortnightly bases. </div><div><br></div><div>The changes made are to even the workload by clustering of areas within close proximity of each other. These changes are aligned with the new wet refuse contracts which have been awarded and are soon to be implemented. </div><div><br></div><div>Any further changes to the recycling collection schedule must be approved directly by the Urban Waste Management Directorate as the contract manager, and will be considered based on the workload and contractor’s capacity. <br><br></div><table
