operation yesterday during which officers recorded 4 624 offences.

|

The operation focused on the Cape Town Harbour/Koeberg Road, Contermanskloof/Tygervalley, upper freeways and the Philippi/Schaapkraal areas.

'Much of our cargo, goods, and equipment are transported by road and heavy duty vehicles are an integral part of keeping the economy going. However, due to their size, these vehicles can cause huge damage and loss of life as we've seen recently and the City's Traffic Service ensures that these vehicles, like all others, are roadworthy and drivers obey the law,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

Drivers put their own lives and other road users at risk and our officers will continue to ensure everyone obeys the law,' said Alderman Smith.
