The City would like to advise residents on some disruptions as a result of these upcoming events.<br></p> | <p>DHL Stadium will host a crucial DSTV Premiership game between home team Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, 1 May 2024.<br></p><p>Approximately 20 000 spectators are expected for the 15:00 kick off. </p><p>Tickets for the game are available through <a href="https://www.ticketpros.co.za/portal/web/index.php/event/80a2fd26-3546-55ac-818f-661ec71d95ed" target="_blank">Ticketpro</a>. </p><p>Gates will open at least an hour before kickoff. </p><p>Residents are advised there will be some road closures around the Green Point precinct. </p><p><strong><em>Cape Town International Jazz Festival </em></strong></p><p>A precursor to the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the Free Jazz Concert returns, for the first time since 2019, to Greenmarket Square on Thursday, 2 May for an evening of smooth jazz in the CBD. </p><p>With a line-up featuring Judith Sephuma, the UK's Matt Blanco, Kujenga, Micaela Kleinsmith, Jerome Rex, DJ Autto along with DJ Eazy and Sophia, the concert is not to be missed. </p><p>The concert starts at 16:00 and ends at 22:00. </p><p>'The return of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival is something that we have been waiting in anticipation for a number of years. The festival's absence over the last four years has left a void in Cape Town's annual events calendar and has been missed by thousands of jazz enthusiasts who make the pilgrimage to the Mother City. Of course the City's partnership with the CTIJF goes back many years and during that period, has been one of the Mother City's signature events contributing to job creation, economic activity, youth development and tourism. As the City, we are ready to make the jazz festival's return a smooth and memorable experience for those who will be in attendance,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.</p><p>To ensure that the logistics are as smooth as the jazz, the City reminds residents and motorists that temporary road closures will be in place in the city centre to accommodate the free concert on Greenmarket Square.</p><img src="file:///C:/Users/ssolomon/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image002.gif" alt="" style="width:636px;margin:5px;" /><p>The following roads will be affected: <br></p><p>Road closures will also be in place around the Cape Town International Convention Centre for the main CTIJF event on 3 and 4 May.</p><p>The following roads will be closed to traffic: </p><ul><li>Walter Sisulu Avenue (East Bound) between Lower Long and Heerengracht streets – from 05:00 on Friday to 17:00 on Saturday</li><li>Jetty Street between Lower Long and Wharf streets – from 13:00 on Friday to 17:00 on Saturday</li><li>Walter Sisulu Avenue (West Bound) between Heerengracht and Lower Long streets – from 13:00 on Friday to 17:00 on Saturday<br><br><strong><em>Wings for Life World Run </em></strong><br><br>Thousands of runners from Cape Town will join millions across the world as part of the Wings for Life World Run on Sunday, 5 May. <br><br>All starting at 13:00 worldwide, the virtual app run event is held in support of the Wings for Life Foundation whose goal is to find a cure for spinal cord injury. <br><br>In the Mother City, runners will gather from the Green Point Urban Park for the Cape Town leg of the charity run.
