Residents reminded to comment on proposed non-motorised transport infrastructure in their neighbourhoods<p>The City's Urban Mobility Directorate is rolling out various programmes to provide safer, more accessible non-motorised transport (NMT) spaces for pedestrians and cyclists. Residents are encouraged to have their say on the proposals for their area. <br></p><div>‘Some of the project aspects include the upgrading and maintaining of NMT facilities and ensuring that these are universally accessible; the upgrading and installing of dropped kerbs; and tactile ground surface indicators for the visually impaired and introducing protected cycle lanes where applicable. We urge residents from these areas to join us at these information days next week and to please send us their comments and recommendations. These proposals form part of our plans to increase road safety for pedestrians, cyclists, wheel-chair users, the elderly, people with prams and school children. With the communities' input, we can ensure that the improvements and infrastructure we implement best suit their needs,' said Councillor Rob Quintas, the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility.</div><div><br></div><div>The following is proposed:</div><div><br></div><div>Bellville and surrounding areas</div><div>NMT infrastructure along Frans Conradie Drive; Suikerbos Street and Old Paarl Road. </div><div><br></div><div>Bishop Lavis and surrounding areas</div><div>NMT infrastructure upgrades and construction along Robert Sobukwe Drive between Peter Barlow Drive and Valhalla Drive. </div><div><br></div><div>Pinelands and surrounding area</div><div>NMT infrastructure upgrades and construction along parts of Jan Smuts Drive; Alexandra Road; Forest Drive; Howard Drive; Avonduur Road; Poplar Avenue; Sipres Avenue and Denneboom Avenue. </div><div><br></div><div>Woodstock, Salt River and Observatory</div><div>NMT infrastructure upgrades and construction along parts of Main Road; Victoria Road; Sir Lowry Road; Lower Main Road; Wrensch Road; Lower Wrensch Road; Trill Road; Station Road; Durham Avenue; Salt River Road; Roodebloem Road; Queens Park Avenue; Searle Street; Mountain Road; Nerina Street and Melbourne Road. </div><div><br></div><div>How to comment:</div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Submit a comment via www.capetown.gov.za/haveyoursay</div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Send an email to UrbanMobility.CT@capetown.gov.za</div><div><br></div><div>Bellville</div><div>Comments, recommendations and input may be submitted by (quote reference: 210232404)</div><div>Written submission: </div><div>Subcouncils:</div><div>Subcouncil 2 Municipal Offices, 87 Brighton Way, Kraaifontein</div><div>Subcouncil 4 Municipal Offices, corner of Voortrekker Road and Tallent Street, Parow</div><div>Subcouncil 6 Municipal Offices, Voortrekker Road, Bellville</div><div>Libraries:</div><div>• Paradys Street, Brackenfell</div><div>• Corner of McIntyre Street and 1st Avenue, Parow</div><div>• Carl van Aswegen Street, Bellville</div><div>• Corner of Voortrekker Road and McDonald Street, Goodwood</div><div><br></div><div>Contact the Public Participation Unit, Zandile Mahlasela, on 021 400 5501 or Zandile.Mahlasela@capetown.gov.za.</div><div><br></div><div>Valhalla Park area</div><div>Comments, recommendations and input may be submitted by (quote reference: 210232405)</div><div>Written submission: </div><div>Subcouncils:</div><div>Subcouncil 5 Kuilsrivier Municipal Building, 2nd Floor, corner of Carinus and Van Riebeeck Roads, Kuilsrivier</div><div>Subcouncil 6 Municipal Offices, Voortrekker Road, Bellville</div><div>Subcouncil 15 Pinelands Training Centre, St Stephens Road,</div><div>Central Square, Pinelands</div><div>Libraries:</div><div>• Blackberry Crescent, Belhar</div><div>• Kasselsvlei Road, Bellville South</div><div>• Lavis Drive, Bishop Lavis</div><div><br></div><div>Contact the Public Participation Unit, Zandile Mahlasela, on 021 400 5501 or Zandile.Mahlasela@capetown.gov.za.</div><div><br></div><div>Pinelands</div><div>Comments, recommendations and input may be submitted by (quote reference: 210232406)</div><div>Written submission</div><div>Subcouncil:</div><div>Subcouncil 15 - Pinelands Training Centre, St Stephens Road,</div><div>Central Square, Pinelands</div><div>Library:</div><div>• Howard Centre, Pinelands</div><div><br></div><div>Contact the Public Participation Unit, Andre Louw on 021 400 9809 or Andre.Louw@capetown.gov.za.</div><div><br></div><div>Woodstock, Salt River and Observatory</div><div>Comments, recommendations and input may be submitted by (quote reference: 210232407)</div><div>Written submission: </div><div>Subcouncils:</div><div>Subcouncil 16 11th Floor, 44 Wale Street, Cape Town</div><div>Libraries:</div><div>• 31 Main Road, Mowbray</div><div>• 83 Station Road, Observatory</div><div>• Town Hall, corner of Clyde and Aberdeen roads, Woodstock</div><div><br></div><div>Contact the Public Participation Unit, Andre Louw, on 021 400 9809 or Andre.Louw@capetown.gov.za.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>End<br></div>2024-05-27T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891d10
