The City reminds residents that our teams will attend to service requests in the fastest time possible, if safe to proceed.

|
Strong winds and heavy rain showers often lead to damaged infrastructure resulting in a high number of electricity service requests. In instances of heavy rain and strong winds, our teams can only attend to the damaged infrastructure once it is safe to do so. We urge residents to only use one reporting channel when reporting any faults to us so that duplicate service requests are avoided.

Winter readiness

Our winter readiness programmes in the city are ongoing and work is done throughout the year. Energy teams continue to attend to large branches and vegetation encroaching on critical electricity infrastructure on City-owned property.

This winter readiness work reduces the risk of power disruptions to residential- and commercial customers as far as possible, especially during winter months.

The City reminds residents to have a look at trees and vegetation on their own property that could be a risk to the power supply, but to leave tree trimming near all electricity infrastructure to professionals. Please contact the City should you have any concerns. This is dangerous work and should be done by professionals only.

For service requests (please only log on one channel):

Call Centre: 0860 103 089

SMS: 31220 (Please note the free SMS service does not apply)

Email: power@capetown.gov.za

e-Services: www.capetown.gov.za/servicerequests

End

| 2024-07-01T22:00:00Z | GP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891d | | | | | GP0|#fe65dbbc-d69c-4a2b-bef0-3ece0313903f;L0|#0fe65dbbc-d69c-4a2b-bef0-3ece0313903f|weather caution;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GP0|#965d83ed-de5b-43a3-91c3-d4d1627228c9;L0|#0965d83ed-de5b-43a3-91c3-d4d1627228c9|faults;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb | 1 | | | | | | | | | | | 0 |
