Interested parties are invited to participate in this open event, scheduled for Friday, 26 April 2024.

Following extensive public participation processes and as part of its submission to the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and Environmental Affairs (DFFE), the City proposed integrating the functions of the Permit Advisory Forum (PAF) into the current Section 80 Advisory Committee. This adjustment aims to streamline ongoing and future engagements effectively.

Endorsing the City's proposal, the DFFE has agreed in principle that the City's existing Section 80 Advisory Committee could function as a PAF dedicated to monitoring ongoing compliance.

The Mayoral Advisory Committee: Water Quality in Wetlands and Waterways is a unique innovation in water governance in South Africa. Through this special committee, the City is able to get real time advice on our environmental water policies and infrastructure investments from the best and brightest minds in water activism, environmental management and engineering.

The inclusion in this committee of the Marine Outfalls Permit Advisory Forum function allows the City, experts and stakeholders to collaborate on the water future of Cape Town.

Details of the meeting:

Date: Friday, 26 April 2024

Time: 10:30

Venue: Council Chambers, 6th Floor, Civic Centre, 12 Hertzog Boulevard, Cape Town

RSVP: Email public.participation@capetown.gov.za

'We encourage all interested parties to actively participate in these engagements, as they will serve as platforms for further dialogue aimed at enhancing the treatment of effluent discharged at the outfalls and protecting our coastal environment,' said Councillor Alex Lansdowne, deputy chairperson of the Mayoral Advisory Committee: Water Quality in Wetlands and Waterways.

End

2024-04-21T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#701faa20-450e-444a-a0fd-ec8ec3f57e06;L0|#0701faa20-450e-444a-a0fd-ec8ec3f57e06|water quality;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb10
