Portfolio Committee commends top-notch enforcement performance

The performance indicators are a reflection of the progress made on operational directives, service delivery and enforcement initiatives.Apart from measuring the performance outputs of staff on the ground, the Directorate, and the Portfolio Committee, also keep track of budget spend and the implementation of projects, as well as staffing related matters like training and vacancies, among others.'The focus is often on the boots on the ground, and rightly so, but there is also an entire internal operation which guides the enforcement output that the public gets to see. The Portfolio Committee's job is to hold the Directorate leadership accountable for the execution of its annual plans, including increased resourcing and ensuring maximum output and a staff complement that is upholding service standards,' said Portfolio Committee Chairperson, Councillor Mzwakhe Nqavashe. The flights conducted were for both planned operations as well as adhoc and emergency incidents across the city. 'The Directorate has a range of well-established performance indicators, but this list is constantly evolving as new initiatives, technology and approaches are introduced. It is a valuable tool that not only helps to ensure accountability, but also shows that the directorate is walking the talk. However, we cannot acknowledge these efforts without also thanking the City's many partners in the enforcement environment, including the SAPS and our neighbourhood watches, who also make a sterling contribution to our crime fighting efforts,' added Councillor Nqavashe.End
