Structural failures reported as service requests by the public and logged by depots are also taken into consideration.

'Cape Town is a rapidly growing city, so the rehabilitation and upgrades to our water and sanitation infrastructure are essential. To meet this objective, the Water and Sanitation Directorate has invested R863,6 million for the current financial year ending June 2024, towards City-wide water and sewer pipe replacements. We need to proactively maintain, rehabilitate and replace water pipelines to ensure a continuous, reliable water supply to our residents.

'This year's proactive pipe replacement programme is progressing well and more than 36 426m of water and 41 825m of sewer pipes have already been replaced.
