NPOs assisting people living on the street can apply for grant-in-aid funding

<div>The City of Cape Town’s Social Development and Early Childhood Development Department invites applications for Grant-in-Aid funding from registered non-profit organisations (NPOs) that provide programmes and services to people living on the street. <br></div><div><br><br></div><p><br></p>

<div>‘This year the department has made R8, 4 million available to NPOs who work this vulnerable sector in our communities. Applications should focus on providing creative and innovative programmes and services that address additional bed spaces at shelters and safe spaces, a focus on programmes that break cycles of substance abuse and programmes that promote the entrepreneurial activities of those living on the street.</div><div><br></div><div>‘The City has its own interventions, but with the help of our NPO partners we can do so much more to help people off the street. These organisations work tirelessly and often unseen, and we are serious about giving them a hand in doing it,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross. </div><div><br></div><div>Proposals for Grant-in-Aid must be made in writing on an official application form, which is available from all subcouncil offices or online at <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:calibri, sans-serif;"><a href="http://www.capetown.gov.za/grants-in-aid"><span style="font-family:"century gothic", sans-serif;color:windowtext;background:white;">www.capetown.gov.za/grants-in-aid</span></a></span>.</div><div><br></div><div>The minimum amount per application per project is R15 000 and it’s important for applicants to note the Grant-in-Aid Policy when they are planning their budgets. </div><div><br></div><div>It should be noted that funding is limited and not all applicants will receive funding and the City may decide to fund proposals partially.</div><div><br></div><div>The closing date for all applications is 12:00 on Wednesday 7 December 2022.</div><div><br></div><div>A Grant-in-Aid information session will be held on Friday 18 November 2022 in the Council Chambers in the Podium Block of the Cape Town Civic Centre from 10:00 to 12:00.</div><div><br></div><div>Interested NPOs must RSVP to Ni-shaat Anthony by Tuesday 15 November at 021 444 7343 or send an email to Nishaat.Anthony@capetown.gov.za</div><div><br></div><div>For more information on the City’s Grant-in-Aid policy visit: </div><div><a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Grants-in-Aid%20Policy.pdf">https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Grants-in-Aid%20Policy.pdf</a> <br></div><div> </div><div><strong>End</strong><br></div><p><br></p>
