FestiveDeedsChallenge - title deeds delivered in Bishop Lavis
10 November 2023
The City’s Human Settlements Directorate is on a mission and delivered 38 more title deeds to new homeowners in Bishop Lavis. This week, Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim and officials in Human Settlements launched the new City festive homeownership challenge. The City is aiming to assist 1 000 qualifying homeowners by December this year.
‘We have accepted this challenge and we are in communities daily to drive our title deeds programme to provide security of tenure to those residents who need it the most. This is a big focus for the Human Settlement Directorate and we are on a mission to deliver 1 000 title deeds and keys to qualifying beneficiaries this festive season.
‘This morning, it was an absolute pleasure to celebrate with 38 more title deeds beneficiaries and their families. Homeownership is life changing and brings dignity to beneficiaries and their loved ones for many generations to come. We are passionate about empowering residents and we ask residents to spread the news and inform their loved ones that the City will be in areas to deliver title deeds.

‘Our new campaign will put in place more resources to find beneficiaries with better tracking and tracing, while also making sure we hand over more title deeds and keys to beneficiaries. We are in communities and we have set aside a total of some R21,6 million this year to deliver title deeds. The Directorate currently has more than 12 000 title deeds on its registry and our Festive Deeds Challenge aims to make a big difference in our communities and shows delivery in action,’ said Councillor Carl Pophaim.
