DSTV Mitchells Plain Festival brings family fun to kick off festive season

The DSTV Mitchells Plain Festival, one of Cape Town's biggest annual events, aimed at building an inclusive community and city, kicks off its 13th edition this Friday. Around 40 000 people are expected to make their way to the three day community celebration which takes place at Westridge Gardens from 1 to 3 December 2023. The first Mitchells Plain festival, held in 2009 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the community, has grown to become a celebration of the culture and community for the people of Mitchells Plain. Over 40 local entertainers and artists will perform live on stage. Festival-goers can also indulge in delicious local cuisine, carnival rides, spot prize competitions, and enjoy comedy shows – there is family fun for everyone! 'The City is excited to continue supporting DSTV en Kyknet Kie Mitchells Plain Festival promoting local culture, local business and an inclusive community. More importantly, it conveys a message that major events can be hosted in Mitchells Plain to assist in stimulating the economy.
