City’s Ravensmead Park nears completion

<p>The City’s Ravensmead Park upgrade project is nearing completion. The incremental upgrade project will provide 51 housing opportunities to residents of the neighbouring informal settlement. <br></p>

<p>Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi and officials in Human Settlements visited the area to look at the project’s progress and to provide an update about work to be completed to beneficiaries and the community. <br></p><div>‘The City is pleased to see this project nearing completion which will provide opportunities to the neighbouring community. <br><br><span> <figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"> <img src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Centre/Ravenmead%20upgrade%20project%204.jpeg" class="responsive" alt="" style="width:692px;" /></figure></span><div>‘The project prioritises opportunities for the disabled and visually impaired residents from Ravensmead Park. In addition, each household will receive either a title deed or tenure certificate once the upgrade project has been completed.</div><div><br></div><div>‘Our teams are on the ground and we look forward to providing many more homes to the qualifying residents over weeks to come. We remain committed to providing affordable housing opportunities to residents across the metro.<br></div><span><br></span><span> <figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"> <img src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Centre/Ravenmead%20upgrade%20project%201.jpeg" class="responsive" alt="" style="width:1069px;" /> </figure></span><div>‘We thank the project teams, contractors and most importantly the community and beneficiaries for working with us while we complete the project and provide opportunities to beneficiaries,’ said Councillor Booi.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>More about the Ravensmead upgrade project:</strong><br></div><div><br></div><div>The top-structure typology of the Ravensmead housing project was chosen by the community through a process of engagements between the Project Steering Committee, the community and the Ward Councillor.</div><div><br></div><div>The Ravensmead Park upgrade project uses innovative materials consisting of Alternative Building Technologies (ABT) in the construction of the homes for the beneficiaries. </div><div><br></div><div>This upgrade project includes formalised roads, and an internal water supply, including erf connections and internal sewer infrastructure.<br></div><div><br></div><div><strong>Help the City to protect its affordable housing projects.
