City’s Human Settlements Roadshow kicks offCity’s Human Settlements Roadshow kicks off
The City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements Directorate is providing feedback directly to communities on housing projects and plans in their areas over the coming months. Today, 16 November 2022, the City kicked off its roadshow in Subcouncil 6. The City has been hard at work and is making significant progress at various projects across the metro.

Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi and senior officials in the Directorate officially kicked off the Human Settlements Roadshow at Subcouncil 6. Subcouncil 6 consists of four wards (Ward 2, 3, 9 and 10) that are centred around the Voortrekker Road industrial and commercial area in Bellville.

Today, 16 November 2022, marked the first day of the Human Settlements Roadshow, where feedback on City projects was provided to the Subcouncil. Residents will also have the opportunity to receive assistance with their enquiries directly from officials when the roadshow visits their area.

‘The City is pleased to provide an update on the work we are doing in the communities and to share detailed feedback on existing project plans for the various areas within the subcouncil. As part of the roadshow, Human Settlements’ officials will also help residents with their Community Residential Unit (CRU) maintenance enquiries, tenancy and Housing Needs Register matters in the weeks and months to come.

‘Work continues in the city and at the heart of successful progress and delivery is support from community members, councillors, project steering committees, contractors and City officials. We thank all our stakeholders for working with us as we continue to deliver to our residents.

‘The City has allocated R2,8 billion for Human Settlements over the next three years and in the last financial year, the Directorate spent more than 97% of its grant funding for projects and programmes. Grant funding spend is an incredibly important indicator of service delivery and a pro-poor focus as it is earmarked for the most poor communities, for human settlements and basic services. The session at Subcouncil 6 was successful and we look forward to providing feedback and to assisting residents in the various areas in the coming months,’ said Councillor Booi.

Anonymous tip offs are welcome:

Residents can give anonymous tip offs if they are aware of illegal activity that is taking place; that has happened or is still to happen.
