City welcomes expert Chief Digital Officer, Andre Stelzner | <span><p>The City prides itself on being committed to improved service delivery, and in support of this, has been embarking on a 10-year Digital Transformation Programme since 2020. This programme is to ensure that the City is well-run, operational, collaborative, resilient and responsive to Cape Town's residents. </p><p>The CDO is an Executive position responsible for providing leadership, vision and direction, enabling the City of Cape Town to achieve strategic technology and organisational objectives. The CDO sets and executes the organisation's digital initiatives that will monetise data, drive digital revenue, improve resident experiences and employee engagements, improve the ease of doing business with the City, drive self-service digital solutions, optimise operations, and create new business value. This is a vital position in the City's Digital Transformation Refresh programme. The position of CDO is a relatively new position and title in the corporate world, and is set to be one of the most exciting roles in the next decade.<br></p>

He is a tried and tested IS&T professional with global experience in implementing systems, applications and products, among others. We welcome him back, and are looking forward to the contribution he will make in building an improved digital experience for our customers,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.</p><p> </p><p>Stelzner is no stranger to the City of Cape Town. From 2008 to 2016, he served as the City's Chief Information Officer. Prior to that, he was Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Director from 2002 to 2008 where he led the City's first SAP implementation. He subsequently returns from seven years serving as an IT Advisor to RAK Municipality in the UAE. </p><p> </p><p>Stelzner holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Civil Engineering, has formal project management training, and many years of project management experience, including technical and change management projects.
