If all goes as planned, the work will commence on 15 May 2024 for about two to three weeks, pending unforeseen delays and inclement weather.

|
The affected section is along Stadler Road in Bloubergstrand.

The seawall along this section has been undermined due to degradation over time. The intention is to underpin the seawall, address the cavity that has formed underneath the walkway, and prolong the lifespan of this important defence structure.

'The contractor will use about 14 parking bays along Stadler Road and a section of the walkway while the work is ongoing. We will do all we can to limit the impact on the public, and will provide a designated walking corridor for pedestrians, however there may be some level of inconvenience. I request all to please avoid the work area, and to adhere to the signage. Thank you also for supporting our efforts to get this important maintenance and repair work done,' said the City's Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Eddie Andrews.
