The City of Cape Town would like to thank waste management companies and other entities that responded to the Request for Information (RFI) asking for ideas on any products, technologies or other offerings that could help improve the City’s waste management operations and services.

‘There was a good response to this RFI, with respondents mainly focussing on the areas of recycling, waste diversion, and producing electricity from waste. 

‘Officials are excited to peruse the submissions in more depth to see what can be viable in Cape Town and due process will be followed. The world is at a turning point on how we think about and manage waste, and so we are excited for the opportunity in future to partner with the private sector to help modernise and improve our city’s waste management systems, in line with global best practice,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.

Please note that all future contracts to enhance UWM services will be issued via legislated competitive tender processes.
