| City resurfacing Strand Road in Bellville | City resurfacing Strand Road in Bellville | | <img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/City%20news.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /> | <p>The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate advises residents, road users, businesses and the broader public of resurfacing roadworks along Strand Road between Bill Bezuidenhout Avenue and Peter Barlow Drive in Bellville. The work has commenced today, 30 July 2024, and is to continue until the first week of September 2024, at night between 19:00 and 05:30, Monday to Friday, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. <br></p> | <p>The roadworks include removing the existing asphalt surfacing and replacing it with hot-mix asphalt, as well as the replacement of selected damaged channels and re-aligning them where needed.</p><p>'The resurfacing of roads is included in our general maintenance to prolong the longevity of our road network. Other benefits include safer road conditions and improved riding quality. Once done, those making use of the busy Strand Road in Bellville will reap the benefits of this project. We will try our best to get the work done as soon as possible to limit the impact on road users,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.</p><p>Roadworks will take place outside of normal working hours with at least one lane open to accommodate traffic. All lanes are scheduled to reopen to traffic at 06:00 every morning.</p><p>The City of Cape Town recommends that road users be cautious while work is under way by lowering their speed, paying attention to road signs and being vigilant in and around the roadworks area.
