City provides smart parking solution to Artscape patrons and staff

Operating hours for Artscape patrons are from Mondays to Fridays between 17:00 and 23:00 and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the parking will only be available during show times.'The team started working on the Artscape Payment Solution in February this year and saw to it that this parking solution was made available to the Artscape Theatre patrons within a few months. Secure parking will now be available at the Cape Town Civic Centre basement parking area, with access via Jan Smuts Street for all attending the shows. Another benefit to this secure parking option is that customers also have access from their cars straight to the theatre via the Artscape tunnel, which one enters from the Civic Centre basement, so no need to walk outside when arriving or leaving the theatre,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys. <figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"> <img src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/CTCC%20Smart%20Parking%20Launch-2.jpg" class="responsive" alt="" style="width:949px;" /> </figure>'Parking one's car within a safe environment is paramount to the holistic experience that patrons at a production at Artscape would require. To activate the pensioner tariff, however, customers are required to validate their parking ticket at the validation machine located at the Artscape tunnel</li><li>Only debit and credit card payments will be accepted as no cash will be handled at this facility</li><li>For security reasons, patrons will be required to produce proof of a reservation or an invitation to a production or event at the entry point</li><li>The gate to the parking area will be closed 15 minutes after the starting time of a performance and opened again after the performance</li><li>The security on duty have been trained on the new system and a help button, which is directly linked to the City's Emergency Management Centre, is available</li></ul> 'Apart from the exciting Artscape parking solution, the City has implemented a larger project at the Civic Centre namely the Smart Parking System, which was designed to streamline the parking process and address the challenges faced by visitors at the facility. Our staff and visitors are very pleased with how we have integrated advanced technologies such as sensors and data analytics to enhance the efficiency, security, and convenience of this parking area.
