This includes new graduates, honours graduates, from across the following disciplines:

Computer Science, Information Systems and Data and Analytics

Physical Sciences (BSc)

All Engineering degrees

Business Science, Finance and Accounting degrees

Industrial Psychology and Human Resources degrees

'Internship is a big stepping stone to one's career path and can sometimes lead to permanent employment for the participants. This is a great opportunity that will give the graduates exposure to the job market and on-the-job training, while being part of a large digital transformation programme, thus, get real-life experience. The participants will also learn, develop skills and gain experience in the digital projects as well as get exciting roles that offer responsibility and engagements with more senior stakeholders across the organisation. Even more exciting, the interns will get a stipend of R8,507.04 per month, meaning they get to enjoy economic inclusion as well. I urge students and graduates currently looking for employment opportunities to please take full advantage of this opportunity. The spaces are limited, thus, if you meet the above-mentioned criteria, make sure to apply as soon as possible,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.

Interested graduates can register and apply via this link: https://coct.jobjack.co.za/681GL

About the CAR Programme:

The City is embarking on a 10-year digital roadmap that commenced in 2018, as a result of a Feasibility Study that was conducted on our ageing IT assets, that have served us exceptionally well over the past 20 years, but reaching an end of life by December 2027, thus, needs replacing.

To tackle this digital deadline, we established our digital transformation programme following the Council approval that was received in June 2020.

This Digital Programme is referred to as the CAR Programme or Core Application Refresh, as the three Core Systems will be refreshed – ERP + Productivity + GIS. Our GIS or geo-spatial system has already gone live in June 2021, while our ERP + Productivity solutions are currently following an open-market tender process to ensure that the City is able to implement the best-of-breed and best-fit solutions for the City. All the new CAR technologies will be implemented in the next five years, before December 2027 and will endeavour to deliver:

Financial stability of our revenue management, billing and financial systems to ensure continued clean financial audits

Improved employee-value proposition through greater automated processes and mobile accessibility, that will attract and retain talent for the City

Better citizen experience through an omni-channel digital platform for improved service delivery to all our citizens

Ease of doing business with our service providers and suppliers

Greater data visibility, data transparency and real-time data accessibility allowing the City to become a more data-driven and date-led organisation.

End

| 2022-09-27T22:00:00Z | GP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891d | | | | | GP0|#efb4aa8d-2eeb-499b-9e8b-512aba03616f;L0|#0efb4aa8d-2eeb-499b-9e8b-512aba03616f|internship;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GP0|#66f37f83-070d-4ac2-974c-e73390976d0c;L0|#066f37f83-070d-4ac2-974c-e73390976d0c|Study;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb | 1 | | | | | | | | | | | 0 |
