City intervenes again to reduce vehicle licence disc discomfort
The City of Cape Town is ensuring that motorists whose vehicle licence discs expire on 31 December 2016 and are renewable by 22 January 2017 receive City-printed reminders to renew their discs as the RTMC cannot issue notices at the moment.

These motorists have until 22 January 2017 to renew their discs.

‘It is expected that Cape Town motorists will start receiving our renewal notices from Tuesday 13 December 2016. Motorists are advised to wait for these City-printed renewal notices which will state the amount due, among others, and not to contact the City’s call centre or to visit the municipal centres prior to receiving the notice, unless their circumstances dictate otherwise.

‘December is one of the busiest months for municipal services and accounts. As such, high customer volumes may be experienced. We are doing everything that we can to increase our staffing complement during this time, both at the walk-in centres and for our online services,’ said the City’s Executive Deputy Mayor, Alderman Ian Neilson.

Residents are also reminded to take along their proof of address and identity document when renewing their motor vehicle licences, which must be done annually, as this is a National Government requirement.

The City asks motorists to also check the expiration date on their current discs and to renew discs online if possible.

It must be noted that an online licence application takes approximately 14 working days from the date of application to receiving it in the post. Motorists are required to scan their proof of address and identity documentation and to send it as an attachment if they choose to make an online application. Residents should please visit the City’s website to access the online services.

Furthermore, for motorists’ convenience, card payment facilities are available for vehicle licence disc renewals at the motor vehicle licence offices.

The City will be extending the operational hours at our motor vehicle registration offices as follows:
• Between 12 and 15 December 2016, operational hours will be extended to 18:00 at the MVR offices at the Cape Town Civic Centre, in Parow, Goodwood, Brackenfell and at the Airport Vehicle Testing Station
• MVR offices at the Cape Town Civic Centre, Milnerton, Brackenfell, Kuils River and Bellville will be available on the public holiday on Friday 16 December 2016 from 08:30 to 11:30

For enquiries, residents should please e-mail: help.uces@capetown.gov.za

End

2016-12-08T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#88742315-3074-4bde-9b30-07ddf9530555;L0|#088742315-3074-4bde-9b30-07ddf9530555|vehicle registration offices;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GP0|#27dfa8db-a998-4566-b0c6-8c1d99cb3b6e;L0|#027dfa8db-a998-4566-b0c6-8c1d99cb3b6e|municipal services and accounts;GPP|#88742315-3074-4bde-9b30-07ddf95305551
