City improving roads in Salt River; Woodstock; Rugby and Sanddrift<p>The works in the Salt River and Woodstock area has significantly impacted road users and pedestrians. The project included the repair and construction of the Salt River circle as well as the replacement of concrete kerbs and channels. The project involved resurfacing Victoria Road and Albert Road and included the upgrade of Salt River Circle, and ancillary works such as sidewalk, kerb and channel repairs. This project forms part of the Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) infrastructure the City is implementing around the Salt River circle.</p><div>‘The Salt River Circle is located in such a high-traffic zone and our project team has done an outstanding job of preventing traffic congestion and ensuring smooth traffic flow for motorists, while also making it safe for pedestrians. This project has already shown improvements and is expected to be completed by the end of June. I have to commend the team for their dedication to minimising disruptions while delivering high-quality work. Their efforts to maintain and improve our road infrastructure is crucial for the safety of our residents.<br></div><div><br></div><div><img src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/DSC_4547.jpg" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:800px;" /><br></div><div><br></div><div>‘We also visited the resurfacing project that has recently started in Rugby and Sanddrift, where impressive progress has been made to date. This project forms part of our scheduled maintenance resurfacing programme,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.<br></div><div><br></div><div>The roadworks in Rugby also includes the installing of a mole barrier along Kiln Road and Donagel Street in Rugby. The new mole barrier will help prevent sinkholes from forming which is caused by activity from Cape mole-rats in this area. </div><div>The various roads that will be resurfaced in Rugby and Sanddrift include:<br></div><div><br></div><div><img src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/DSC_4683.jpg" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:800px;" /><br></div><div><br></div><div>Rugby:</div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Kiln Road<br></div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Linnet Street</div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Donegal Street</div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Epping Street</div><div><br></div><div>Sanddrift:</div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Diana Street</div><div>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Eclipse Street </div><div><br></div><div>The City thanks residents for their patience while the teams work hard to complete these road maintenance projects as efficiently as possible.</div><div><br></div><div>End<br><br></div>2024-05-21T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#64b963e9-b332-43e2-a913-8829ff3d5853;L0|#064b963e9-b332-43e2-a913-8829ff3d5853|road;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb10
