| City enables new homeowners | City enables new homeowners | | <img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/Development-and-Delivery-Header.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /> | <p>Today, 18 November 2022, Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi, and senior officials in the Human Settlements Directorate visited qualifying residents of Lotus River, to assist them with the final steps in the No Cost Transfer Programme process.<br></p> | <p>Today, 18 November 2022, Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi, and senior officials in the Human Settlements Directorate visited qualifying residents of Lotus River, to assist them with the final steps in the No Cost Transfer Programme process.</p><div><br></div><div>‘The City currently owns approximately 7 500 CRUs that can be sold and approximately 12 000 delayed transfer units that must still be transferred to beneficiaries. We are excited to see residents qualify and take advantage of this programme. Mrs De Klerk, Mr and Mrs Rex, and Miss Japhta are a few of the many residents who have approached us and qualified to take transfer at no cost, and we are happy to assist them during the process.</div><div>¬¬</div><div>‘The City encourages qualifying beneficiaries to take the first step and to approach us by finding out how they can benefit from this programme. Through the No Cost Transfer Programme, the City will fund the attorney transfer fees and fix same at R2 500 per property irrespective of the property purchase price, on behalf of the beneficiaries. The City will also fund insurance costs for saleable rental units from the date of sale until the registration of the property. The City’s housing officials are ready to assist many more beneficiaries who require more information or help. </div><div><br></div><div>‘This is a wonderful opportunity and we urge residents to reach out so that they may become property owners.
