City advises of water supply disruptions affecting Montague Gardens, Vanguard Estate and a section of Hout BayCity advises of water supply disruptions affecting Montague Gardens, Vanguard Estate and a section of Hout Bay<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/Commercial%20Water%20and%20Sanitation%20Concessions%20and%20Rebates%20Header.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><p>​<strong><em><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"century gothic", sans-serif;">The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be doing planned work in the identified areas which will result in water supply disruptions. </span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"century gothic", sans-serif;">The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers. </span></em></strong><br></p><p>​</p><table cellspacing="0" width="100%" class="ms-rteTable-default"><tbody><tr><td class="ms-rteTable-default" style="width:100%;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>What residents need to know about planned water supply disruptions:</strong></span></p><ul><li>Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure it is <strong>being done at a time that is least disruptive</strong> to the water supply.</li><li>Please kindly <strong>store water in clean sealed containers</strong> for domestic use during this period.</li><li>Please <strong>keep your taps closed</strong> to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the water supply is restored.<br></li></ul></td></tr></tbody></table><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Montague Gardens </strong></span></p><p><strong>The water supply main to the Montague Gardens area will be temporarily shut down on Sunday, 23 October 2022 from 06:00 until 18:00. </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>This will allow the maintenance team the opportunity to safely install a series of control valves ranging from 300mm diameter to 500mm diameter on the local water supply network.<strong>  </strong></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p>The Water and Sanitation Directorate needs to urgently upgrade the water supply network and installing a range of control valves of various diameters will help prevent a large area being shut off when there is a pipe burst in the area.   </p><p> </p><p>This work forms part of the City's water supply infrastructure upgrade project which specifically focuses on the water distribution network.</p><p> </p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Vanguard Estate</strong></span></p><p><strong>The water supply into Vanguard Estate </strong><strong>will be temporarily shut down</strong><strong> from Thursday, 27 October 2022, at 21:00 overnight until Friday, 28 October 2022, at 04:00.</strong></p><p> </p><p>This will enable the maintenance team to safely replace the faulty 300mm diameter inline water meter on the water supply main in this area.</p><p> </p><p>This work forms part of the proactive maintenance programme for the City's bulk water infrastructure which ensures continued water supply to the consumers through the reduction of unaccounted-for water.</p><p> </p><p><span lang="EN-US" style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>A section of Hout Bay </strong></span></p><p><strong>The water supply from the Hout Bay Reservoir will be temporarily shut down on Thursday, 27 October 2022 from 08:30 until 16:00. </strong></p><p> </p><p>This will enable the maintenance crew to safely cut in a T-connection on the 350mm diameter water main from the Hout Bay Reservoir to install a control valve.
