City advises of planned electricity supply work in the CBD, surrounds

5 April 2024

The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department advises residents in parts of the Cape Town Central Business District (CBD) and surrounds that necessary electricity infrastructure maintenance will be carried out on Saturday, 13 April 2024, from 18:00 to 08:00 and on 20 April 2024, from 18:00 to 08:00. While the work is being carried out, residents will have electricity supply. There is a small chance of brief power interruptions when the work commences or is completed, or if tripping occurs. The City apologises for any inconvenience.

This work does not affect all areas in the city. The work will be carried out in the CBD and surrounds only.

Please note that while the work is being carried out, residents will have electricity supply.

Electricity supply interruptions may occur when the work commences and when the maintenance work is completed. Sometimes, tripping can occur, among others.

Due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work, the time of restoration may be delayed by a few hours, or if Eskom implements load-shedding. Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete all upgrades within the 18:00 to 08:00 communicated time if all goes to plan.

The electricity infrastructure maintenance in the CBD will be carried out on:

• 13 April 2024, from 18:00 to 08:00 and on 20 April 2024, from 18:00 to 08:00
