City advises of low water pressure or possible supply disruption in the Durbanville, Fisantekraal, Philadelphia, Klipheuwel, Contermanskloof, Wellington and Hermon areas

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be performing critical maintenance of its infrastructure at the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant next week. Read more below:

The work will require that the plant be shut down on Wednesday, 7 April 2021 from 09:00 until 14:00. 

The City has planned to reduce the impact of the work on consumers as far as possible. This includes filling the reservoirs supplied by the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant to maximum capacity in advance. Consumers in Durbanville, Fisantekraal, Philadelphia, Klipheuwel, Contermanskloof, Wellington and Hermon may, however, may still experience slightly lower-than-usual pressure on the day.

Residents in these areas are requested to reduce their non-essential water consumption for the duration of the shutdown to minimise demand on the system.

The Drakenstein Municipality has been informed regarding the impact of the works, as the towns of Wellington and Hermon are supplied from the Voelvlei bulk water pipeline.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it enhances its water supply infrastructure to benefit residents in these areas.
