| Changes along Buitengracht Service Road to improve traffic flow, road safety | Changes along Buitengracht Service Road to improve traffic flow, road safety | | <img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/City%20news.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /> | <p>Earlier this year, the City met with local leaders from the Bo-Kaap to discuss proposals intended to improve the safety of road users along Buitengracht Service Road, which runs parallel to the dual carriageway Buitengracht (M62). </p><p>In August residents, businesses and interested parties from the Bo-Kaap and surrounds had the opportunity to submit comments on the proposals.</p><p>'The far majority of those who participated in this process support the City's proposals that are also intended to assist with traffic flow to and from the Bo-Kaap and the City Bowl. This process has been concluded, and officials from the City's Urban Mobility Directorate will go ahead and implement the changes in coming days. I want to thank the community of the Bo-Kaap and all of those who participated for their contributions,' said the City's Mayoral Committee for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.</p><p><strong>The following changes will be implemented:</strong></p><ul><li>Buitengracht Service Road will be turned into a one-way from the intersection with Bloem Street in an easterly direction (towards Wale Street)</li><li>Parking space will be allocated along this section of the service road</li><li>Buitengracht Service Road will remain a two-way from the intersection with Bloem Street in a westerly direction (towards Military Road); but parking will be prohibited along this section so that there is enough space to accommodate vehicles travelling in both directions</li></ul><p>Importantly, surrounding streets such as Buiten Street, Bloem Street, Pepper Street, Bryant Street, and Jordan Street will remain two-way streets.<br></p> | | 2022-11-16T22:00:00Z | GP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891d | | | | | | 1 | | | | | | | | | | Media Office, City of Cape Town | 0 |
