Cape Town Household Survey coming to your hood <p>The City of Cape Town has contracted Kantar to assist in conducting this survey and interviewers will be visiting all suburbs within the City of Cape Town boundaries between February and May 2024. Some 10,000 households have been randomly selected across the city to represent every suburb. We are appealing to all households, which have been selected, to please participate in the interview - it should take between 20 – 40 minutes to complete. While participation is completely voluntary, it will ensure the City has a more accurate and up-to-date view of your neighbourhood and community.<br></p><div>‘While the National Census is very valuable, it only takes place every 10 years, which means there are long gaps in data and insight availability between surveys. The City will be conducting this large-scale household survey every two years to enable better data-driven decision making and planning. This includes data on standard socio-economic topics, but also more specific service delivery insights, and more information on key urban dynamics and challenges (e.g. resilience, mobility and safety). Your participation is voluntary and there are no consequences if you do not consent to participate or share your personal information. If you do participate, you have the right of access to and the right to rectify or request the removal of the information collected,’ said Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis.</div><div><strong> </strong><br></div><div><strong>What information will be collected?</strong></div><div> </div><div>We will gather socio-economic and demographic information, including:<br><br></div><div>•       The ages, gender, education, health, employment and travel needs of each household member<br><br></div><div>•       Access to basic services and use of public amenities, home ownership or rental status, household income and expenditure, <br><br></div><div>•       Challenges faced by the household or household members including crime and food insecurity  </div><div><br></div><div> </div><div>The survey will be POPIA compliant, and any personally identifiable data information collected will be treated as confidential.
