All hands on deck for Boatica Cape Town, Africa’s biggest and best boat showAll hands on deck for Boatica Cape Town, Africa’s biggest and best boat show<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/City%20news.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><p>​Africa’s biggest boating exhibition, Boatica Cape Town, returns to the V&A Waterfront this week from Friday, 25 October to Sunday, 27 October. This year’s event will feature globally sought-after South African-made boats, the latest boating gear, water sports equipment, and cutting-edge marine technology. There will also be a feature highlighting work opportunities within the industry.</p><span><p>‘The City proudly supports this event which showcases the best in local marine manufacturing, most of whom are based right here in Cape Town. Boatica is a highlight for the industry because it is a display of the breadth and variety of innovation, talent and skill of our boat-builders,’ said Alderman James Vos.</p><p>The 2024 edition of Boatica will feature over 70 exhibitors, more than 50 boats on display, and a wide range of activities, such as live demonstrations of various vessels, boat racing, product launches, and informative talks on the maritime industry. Visitors will also get the chance to participate in experiences, including stand-up paddle boarding and sailing lessons from the South African Sailing Academy.</p> <figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"> <img class="responsive" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/boatica%20dragon%20boat%20race.jpg" alt="" style="width:949px;" /> </figure></span><span><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman"> </font><p style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"></p><p><br>‘Our rich ocean economy is not just about leisure; it's about creating jobs and driving sustainable practices,’ Alderman Vos said. ‘By attending Boatica, visitors will get an inside view of the opportunities that our marine sector offers, reinforcing our commitment to economic growth through high-growth industries.’</p><p>As part of the City's efforts to attract local and international visitors, attendees will be able to purchase tailored travel packages that feature Cape Town’s destination attractions.</p><p>The City will once again host a booth at this year’s show with its industry partner, Blue Cape; NPO and organisation behind the South African Sailing Academy, The Little Optimist Trust; the Shark Spotters NPO; and bag-maker Maykamark.<br></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman"> </font> <img class="responsive" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/DJI_0528.jpg" alt="" style="width:1010px;" /><p></p> ​​</span><span>​​</span><span><p>‘And an exciting new feature for job-seekers and those looking to be part of marine manufacturing will be the ‘Job Wall’ which will highlight a wide range of employment opportunities within the industry. This platform connects attendees with the growing maritime sector, offering diverse career paths,’ said Alderman Vos.</p><p>The City supports Blue Cape in its work focusing on research and skills development in all areas of marine manufacturing, including boat-building, superyachts, and ocean sports, and how that links to related industries.</p><p>‘The South African leisure boatbuilding industry contributes an incredible estimated R3,2 billion to the country’s economy every year, and to the wider ocean economy, a further R2 billion. Boatica Cape Town plays a pivotal role in promoting South Africa's boatbuilding industry on the global stage, making it an integral partner to the industry.
