Resolution detail

RESOLVED that having considered the City of Cape Town Traffic Calming Policy and the recommendation from Transport Planning & Network Management Department;
 

1. Gardenia Avenue is a Class 4 Collector located within a medium-density residential area of Devils Peak Estate.

2.  Our assessment indicated that Ixia Park is located along Gardenia Avenue to attract vulnerable or high concentrations of pedestrian activity across the study roadway.

3. Our assessment indicated that Ixia Park is located along Gardenia Avenue to attract vulnerable or high concentrations of pedestrian activity across the study roadway.

4. There is an existing traffic calming measure and signage in advance of the traffic calming measure along Gardenia Avenue, which is sufficient for mitigating vehicle/pedestrian conflict.

1. Therefore, the potential for pedestrian/vehicle conflict along Gardenia Avenue is considered low and non-compliant with Section 7(3) of the Traffic Calming Policy.

2. Given the above and considering the City of Cape Town Traffic Policy, regretfully traffic-calming measures cannot currently be considered along Gardenia Avenue.
