Eat smart for our world
Introducing the Smart Eating Guide

Healthy eating is important for our bodies to stay in good shape and for us to avoid disease. Eating smartly is absolutely essential if we want to help save our environment and ensure we can still rely on our natural resources for a long time into the future. The more we know about food, the more environmentally conscious we can become. To help you gain insight, we have developed a Smart Eating Guide – one for learners/students and another for teachers.

The guide covers the following:

How much energy goes into food production

How livestock production (meat and dairy) affects greenhouse gas emissions, water shortages, soil erosion, reduced biodiversity, and public health issues

How we can reduce “food miles”

Why we need to curb our food waste, and how to do this

The relationship between healthy food and climate-friendly food

Energy-saving tips for cooking and storing food at home

How to ask the government to make better rules and policies about food

Smart Eating Learner's Booklet

Packed full of resources, ideas, and information, the learner’s booklet is a rich source of knowledge for the younger generation. Students can learn about climate change and how food production, transportation, selling and buying can seriously impact on our environment. The guide also gives learners the opportunity to start tracking what they eat daily, encouraging them to understand and reduce their carbon footprint.

View or download the Smart Eating Learner's Booklet

Smart Eating Educator's Guide

With the educator’s guide, teachers can learn about the project methodology and can track student learning and the completion of tasks in the classroom.
