That 2x speed humps along Plataan Road in the vicinity of the sport field BE SUPPORTED and placed on the line department’s school programme for the next financial year, due to it being in Plataan street, which backs up on to the tennis courts of Durbanville High School.
B. WARD 112: St Johns Road, Durbanville – TNDN3469. An application for traffic calming measures (speed humps) – was received from Hannes du Preez
That the application for speed humps along St John’s Road, Durbanville NOT BE SUPPORTED for the reasons as indicated below, SUBJECT to Traffic Services being requested to ensure continuous enforcement along St Johns Road:
REASONS FOR NON-SUPPORT PROVIDED BY TRANSPORT NETWORK DEVELOPMENT (Akhona Maseko)
-
‘St Johns Road is a class 2 Major Arterial (one level down from a freeway = class 1) which is designed to provide a key mobility function, typically with no direct property access occurring along same.
-
In terms of the City’s Traffic Calming Policy, no raised measures are permitted along mobility routes (from class 3 upwards to class 1 = freeways)….which would include St John’s Road.
-
This is a class 2 route and that calming would not be permitted”
FURTHER RESOLVED
C. That a schedule of traffic calming applications to be dealt with on the 2022/23 schools programme BE SUBMITTED to the Subcouncil Manager as previously requested. |
