RESOLVED
Subcouncil supports the recommendation that:
The motion submitted by Cllr G Peck be supported and recommends that the Sub council approach the Recreation & Parks Department for their approval to erect a Community Centre on Erf 130, Firgrove. That they agree that once the building is erected that they will manage the property and budget for maintenance of the building. That via the Ward Cllr’s office the developer of Sitari Estate can lodge all the necessary documents for the approvals to develop the erf as a Community Centre.
Motivation: The Firgrove Ratepayers Association and the Ward Cllr had a meeting with the management of the developers of Sitari Estate, who have agreed to design and erect a 240sq meter Community Centre for the residents of Firgrove. He met with the City of Cape Town, Property Department who support the proposal and requested that I contact the Recreation & Parks Department for the necessary approval. The reason that he requests an urgent motion is that the team at Sitari want to start with the planning as soon as possible and hence he does not want to wait until next month’s meeting to present the motion.
Mover: Cllr G Peck and Seconded by Cllr D Khatshwa with no objections to the motion.
Action: Chrystal Frantz

Email from Cllr Greg Peck dated 4 June 2019
I had a meeting with Mayor Plato and Z Badrodien with his team on the 28 may 2019. The decision was that we could :
Approach the WC Provincial Education department and request that the donor Satari build a kitchen and do improvements to the school and in return the community can use the hall
That the community set up a community trust who will manage the community centre built on COCT ground. The ward councillor must be a trustee of the trust .
ED Sass would talk to the WCED Mr Schreuder about point one and that I will engage with the rate payers Association re point two.
We will revert back at the end of June for further discussions and to find a way forward.

Activity day Meeting 16 September 2020
Cllr Peck reported that he will remove this item because he has spoken to the community and the ratepayers of Firgrove and they will have to get a deal with Sitari and Baldwin which they do not have to consider to start the negotiations of buying the piece of land.
RESOLVED
That the item be REMOVED from the MRA’s as Cllr Peck will liaise with the community on the process going forward.
