The following comment was received by Brent Diedericks:
Samples are being submitted by the vendors. I will know more in the coming week. Once we award the RFQ, installation will take at least 3 weeks.
Meeting date: 11/09/2018
The RFQ was advertised specifically requesting plastic locks. 3 vendors replied but all their samples submitted to us were metal. We are re-advertising today. Will keep you posted.
Meeting date: 08/10/2018
a)The bins were delivered already. The locks are a separate issue.
b) The specification called for plastic locks. Vendors could not source and thus quoted on mental locks. When we received the samples after the RFQ had closed, we discovered that the lock was not to specification.
Meeting date: 12/11/2018
Award of RFQ for locks has been completed. Supply Chain has asked the vendor to update their tax clearance certificate before the official PO can be sent.
I have ask the vendor to ensure that the locks are installed before the December recess/compan holidays.
Need to think about roll out by the depot team and servicing plan. Note these bins can only be pole-mounted.
Meeting date: 21/01/2019
Completion of installation is due 31 Jan.
Rollout could be done by the Two Oceans Litter Bin Team by mid Feb. The plan in terms of location and quantities can be finalised in the interim.
Kind Regards
Brent

Mr Ricardo Thompson confirmed that he would be attending the March Subcouncil Meeting to provide an update on the installation of the baboon proof bins.
Meeting date: 18/03/2019
Mr Ricardo Thompson informed that the first phase of the rollout of installation of baboon proof bins, would start that day. Some of the bins would not be in the same location as they needed to be tired up to a pole. All concrete bins would be removed and replaced with baboon proof bins in close proximity to where they were currently.
He asked that residents and councillors should provide feedback on the effectiveness and functionality of the bins.
Meeting date: 25/04/2019
The Chairperson thanked Ms Jackson for the submission and informed that the request would be forwarded to the Solid Waste Department for consideration.
