Ms Helen Jordaan was present for this item. She delivered a visual presentation outlining the Draft Maintenance Management Plan (MMP) (A copy of the presentation is attached to the Official Minute as Annexure “B”). The City was in the process of seeking approval of its Maintenance Management Plan (MMP) to maintain and rehabilitate the dunes and beaches along the coast of Cape Town. Cape Town has a dynamic coastline subject to various coastal processes including, erosion, accretion and wind-blown sand. The MMP would allow for the immediate and ongoing management of beaches and dune systems in compliance with the National Environmental Management Act No. 107 of 1998 and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (2014) requirements. In terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998), you have the opportunity to submit comments, recommendations or input to the municipality. The comment period for comments and objections may be submitted from 1 – 30 September 2017.
