A meeting was held on 24 Jan 2017 - Refer decision taken:
UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED
1. That the Director: Property Management in consultation with Energy, Environmental and Spatial Planning Directorate, BE TASKED to:
• Prepare and submit applications for the subdivision and rezoning of the western portion of the property; and
• Submit a proposal to Council for permission to alienate the subdivided westerns portion, so that tenders for its disposal may be invited in line with the City’s vision and development guidelines for the site.
2. That the Director: Spatial Planning and Urban Design in conjunction with the Ward Councillor BE TASKED to prepare a vision and guidelines for the development of the site, including a requirement for a restaurant / coffee shop to be located on the ground floor, facing the square.
WAY FORWARD:
1 The Subcouncil decision to be reviewed and rescinded by way of a report to be submitted to the Subcouncil at its next meeting in February by Town Planning ( Anne Smit) in conjunction with Parks & Recreation ( Altus & Phila) which includes the options available for a coffee shop/ tea garden concept. ( Elmaleen)
2 A site meeting to be arranged with the Mayoral Committee Member.
3 Markets & other events to be managed via a permit system in the interim.
4 Franklin Anthony to provide feedback on the maintenance work which need to be undertaken before end of May.
