RESOLVED that: This item be transferred back to SC 11 ACTION: Ms A Vittee 17SUB160117 Cllr R Adams informed the meeting that this was a long outstanding matter and that the site earmarked for this project has also been identified for another purpose. He undertook to follow up on this matter and requested that it remains on the MRA list. RESOLVED that: The issue remains on the MRA list until resolved. 11SUB06/10/16 Status quo remains waiting on reports from Line department The Subcouncil NOTED the information. 11SUB05/08/16 Cllr Little sent email dated 24 June 2016 to Mr Bam, with reference to the property earmarked for the Golf course. She informed him that this is a matter with Property Management. She has not asked Sport and Recreation to taken over this property. The client has submitted an application to lease the property, which is currently with the department. All she requires is the finalisation of the lease agreement. This organisation has their own funding. I would require Roads and Parks to discuss the closure of the River, but that is currently underway with Mr Jacques Cedras the Manager of the Nantes park. Mr Bam responded in an email dated 24 June 2016 a golf academy there will be an asset to the City. The Subcouncil NOTED the information. Cllr Little said that an organisation had made an application more than a year ago to re-establish the only Black golf academy in the catchment area which will benefit not only Ward 49 communities but the surrounding communities too. The organisation intends creating a golf training facility for the benefit of young and old. Sport in Ward 49 is extremely under-developed in that concentration is given to only a few codes thereby not allowing the Youth of the area to be exposed to the opportunities offered by other codes of sport. The Kurt Stripp Golf Academy (KSG) has proposed the development of a Golf Academy for young people in the area. The work of KSG Academy is aimed at primary schools and collaborates with various NPO’s to support other developmental visions in poorer communities. The objective of the Academy is to make golf accessible to as many young people as possible and to create opportunities for the most talented golfers from poor communities to develop to professional golfers. It is therefore proposed that: 1.The open space on the corner of Klipfontein Road and Jakes Gerwel Road (Erf No 32604) to be considered as location for the Academy. 2.Property Management undertakes an investigation on the feasibility of the proposal. 3.Consideration to be given to the Academy for the lease of the mentioned property. 4.An Agreement be drawn up between the City of cape Town and the Kurt Stripp Golf Academy. The Subcouncil Adopted and Supported the motion
