Mr Patrick Dowling on behalf of the Kommetjie Ratepayers and Residents Association (KRRA) raised the following concerns to Subcouncil regarding the operational times of Shell Garage in Kommetjie: •The garage was used as a Hub and many social ills were taking place there due to the garage operating on a 24 hours shift . •People coming to the shop at 2 - 3am in the morning claiming to buy cigarettes with other ulterior motives. •Noise nuisance (speeding and loud music) when filling up their tanks with petrol The KRRA requested that the City of Cape Town facilitate the relocation of the Shell garage due to the high criminal activity which takes place within the Village after 10pm. Alderman Purchase thanked Mr Dowling for the concern raised and explained that the matter would be forwarded to the relevant department. The Subcouncil RESOLVED to ask Property Management to facilitate negotiations with Shell, to find an amicable solution to the relocation of the Shell garage in Kommetjie, to a position outside of the residential area.
